When Noun and Verb went out to play cricket! (DAY 10)
When Noun and Verb went out to play cricket! (DAY 10)
The noun and verb went out to play cricket in the last class….on Day 10 of the School Internship on 13.11.2020 (Friday). It
was a very effective strategy to teach grammar- Noun Phrase and Verb Phrase. All the students responded well
to the idea. After all, when Dhoni is the Noun and Virat is the Verb then
naturally learning grammar will be a T20 match.😀😀😀 It was fun both for the
students and the teacher. It felt very relaxing. The last class was thus made
remarkable and unforgettable. I would like to explore more such ways to
transact grammar. The day gave me a fixed feeling. On the one hand, I was feeling
relieved that the School Internship phase was over but on the other hand somehow
I was feeling sad too. I was really enjoying the "40 minutes" of being the
teacher, the hours and hours of brainstorming and discussions, preparation of
teaching aids, and PowerPoint Presentations. The experience and development I had received
as part of the internship phase are commendable and it can’t really be replaced
by anything. I am very grateful to have got such an opportunity.
Highlights
Upon reflection I could list out the following highlights:
- Dhoni, Virat and Grammar
He teacher used references from cricket to introduce the
concept of Noun phrase and Verb phrase. It felt really effective. Within seconds
the students could understand the concept well. It should be followed more in
the classes, I felt.
- Crossword
A glimpse into my childhood days. Back to Crossword puzzle in Balarama.
Crossword puzzle was used to introduce and reinforce the concept of verbs. All the
students participated well.
- Games
The class was mainly centered around games and puzzled.
Jumbled words were given and the students had to properly arrange them.
- Story Time
To practice, the concept taught I used the grand old method
of storytelling. The story of The Grasshopper and the Ant was used for the
purpose. The students seemed to respond well to that too.
- Teaching Aids
The importance and effectiveness of using teaching aids and
charts to transact grammatical concepts can’t be contested. It was reinforced
in the class too.
Day 10 of the school internship was a day that I always
remember with fondness. Undoubtedly I am going to miss the feeling of being a
teacher. The 10 days gave me the treasure-house f exposure to knowledge and information
for a lifetime. I will always keep the experience close to my heart and will
cherish the class, the students, the lessons that I learned, in fact, anything
and everything I associated with Phase I of the school internship. I am going to miss this very much. 💓💓💓👋👋👋
