Hope for the best, prepare for the worst and ready to be surprised! (DAY 3)
The Day 3 of School Internship on 04.11.2020
(Wednesday) gave me a mixed feeling. Since the topic to be taught on that day
contained several concepts and phenomena related to climate change it felt
very exhausting. I think I could have taught the concepts in a better way for
the students to understand. Even though I have prepared extensively for the concepts
to be taught, the implementation was not that smooth. I couldn’t get a feeling
of satisfaction after the class. But it was truly a learning experience for me. From
the next class onwards I could improve my class and that’s all matters. After
all, perfection is just a myth. There is a scope for improvement for each day.
Expect the best. Prepare for the worst. Be ready to be surprised. Capitalize on what comes!
Highlights
Upon reflection, I could list out the following
highlights of my class:
Innovative Word Study
For teaching words pictures, videos, and nursery rhymes
were used. It felt effective. They seemed intrigued by the nursery rhyme which
the teacher sang.
Teaching Concepts
The students were to be taught the natural phenomena
related to climate change – Ocean warming, Ocean acidification, Methane plumes, and Melting of glaciers in the class. For that, I have used pictures. They
seemed somewhat effective.
Trying very hard to make them understand the concepts!
Improvised Teaching Aids
The teacher used improvised teaching aids for teaching students vocabulary. It was a kind of working model for the students. The strategy seemed successful
Online Activity
I have adapted the activity part to involve all the students and to elicit maximum response from the students. Hand-drawn pictures seemed to work well for that.
