What’s up??? The sky? (DAY 9)

What’s up??? The sky? (DAY 9)

A dangling principle is something “up with which I will not put” – Winston Churchill

Hand-drawn pictures to revise verbs and prepositions!

The Day 9 of School Internship on 12.11.2020 (Thursday) could be relatable to the above statement by Winston Churchill. This was the day that I really felt satisfied and content with my class. All the students equally participated in the activities and I could get a feeling that the content was transacted well to the students. It’s very true when it is said:

“Tell me and I forget

Teach me and I remember.

 Involve me and I learn”

          -Benjamin Franklin

The class on Phrasal Verbs was centered around live demonstration and teaching using hand-drawn pictures. The strategy felt very effective and interesting to the students. It could have been used more in the classes. That’s what I could infer from my class.

Highlights

  • Demonstration

The charts used in the class!

I used live demonstration to teach the concept of Prepositions using a cup and a ball. All the students participated in the demonstration and they seemed to enjoy it

  • Pictures

Hand-drawn pictures to teach phrasal verbs work the best!

Pictures-ones easily relatable to the students is the best for teaching vocabulary and grammar. To teach the concept of verbs and prepositions they were used.

  • Online Practice

Tests can be made fun and easy via Kahoot!

Using the application Kahoot I tried to make the students practice the concepts learned. All the answers were correct and it made me happy. It was a good initiative. They enjoyed the MCQs and the game format of the application well.

  • Teaching Aids

The mood was set using pictures!

For each and every concept that has been taught in the class I had a chat with me. Before the class, I was apprehensive about whether I am overdoing things or not. But at the end of the class, the strategy felt effective as the students responded well.

  • 100% Involvement

Ways to ensure more participation!😁

This was the only class where all the students involved equally. It made me really happy. To ensure equal involvement in an online platform is a herculean task and when it comes to teaching grammar it becomes extra difficult. I was able to do that and it was a deeply motivating feeling.

When I was writing the reflections it just came to my mind that my school internship is about to end. The time feels like flying. Only one day left and I want to make it memorable and everlasting to the students.💗💗💗
