The 'Butterflies in my Stomach' and much more!!!

The Butterflies in my stomach and much more!!!

The School Internship Phase I for the III semester B.Ed students started on 02.11.2020(Monday). It’s always the day before that you dread! You think, rethink and contemplate on every decision that you have taken, whether they are right or wrong. Should they be changed? It’s a day full of confusion and uncertainties! I was not just having butterflies in my stomach in fact the entire zoo was roaming in my stomach giving me jitters.

“You want to have butterflies in your stomach, because if you don’t, if you walk out on stage complacent, that’s not a good thing” – Joan Jett

The art of building a class!

For the online teaching practice, we started from ground zero just like a soldier who builds a camp in the battle zone from nothing. That was our state too. We were given the contact numbers of the students of standard IX B. We had to call them, ask about their convenience, and then set up a class. But the trouble was worth the effort. Instead of the ready-made class handled to you, this was the customized one that we have created, building personal relationships with the students and the parents. That has helped us a great deal when it came to the teaching practice. We had done a trial meeting for the students to make them familiarize with the Google Meet platform. That helped too. My co-teacher for the students of standard IX B (Group 2) was Aswathy M Nair of the Physical Science Department. The 10 days were really an experience, a transformative one. Every day was a challenge and you try to overcome that challenge. That’s all that matters. The learning experience and the evolution of myself, both as a person and as a teacher was the end result. The effort you had to put in transacting content online is much more compared to doing the same in a regular classroom. But in the end, it was worth the effort. πŸ™ŒπŸ™ŒπŸ™ŒπŸ’ͺπŸ’“

 Learning to love nature….

From Unit III of standard IX we had chosen the speech of Leonardo DiCaprio –Climate change is not hysteria, it’s a fact for our internship. At the end of the day, I become more and more enamoured by the nature and become more pro-active in conserving nature. I hope the spirit might have been planted in my students too.

 The ingenious 6s

A teacher should never underestimate the students before her. The students should always be treated with respect, dignity, and in fact reverence. Because the way they adapt to new things is commendable. We have much to learn from them. In my class, I had 6 students. Each one of them brought something to our class that made the experience very enjoyable. Karthik with his spontaneity and exceptional ability to be punctual (at times he reminds me of myself while I was in schoolπŸ˜€πŸ˜€πŸ˜€) Govind with his witty humour and fun😎😎, Vignesh with his gentle tone and patience…

Let’s travel through the saga of the 10 days that changed me forever. I hope you will love the story too!
