It's 'Mr. Bean' and 'Rhetorics'! (DAY 4)

It's Mr. Bean and Rhetorics! (DAY 4)

The Day IV of the School Internship on 05.11.2020 (Thursday) was very interesting, both for the students and the teacher herself. I tried some out of the box ideas to make the class lively and interactive. Usually, when it comes to taking a class I tend to follow a formal approach, but this day I tried my hand at something new. The end result made me happy as the students seemed to respond well. It was another experimentation that went right for me.

Highlights

Upon reflection I could list out the following highlights:

  • Innovative Word Study
    •

Mr. Bean and Virat Kohli are best to teach vocabulary!😜

I tried some innovative situations to teach the vocabulary. Film references, videos, and references from cricket were used successfully. When we speak in their language it’s easy for the students to understand and they seem to respond well too.

      • Game

Word games are the best to teach vocabulary in an ESL classroom

The impact and the response I got from the game was surprising. The students were eagerly making more and more words from the word climate. Their eagerness to be a part of the game fascinated me. It felt like a good decision to include that activity.

      • Recap of Homework

      Homework page of Karthik S💓
I made it a point to review the homework because it will be a proper form of follow up and will act as an incentive for other students to follow. It was well-received.

      • Online Activity

Online Activity based on hand-drawn pictures could easily transact the content

The online activity I adapted to suit the interests and aptitude of the students were well received. All the students actively participated in the activity. The hand-drawn pictures used for the activity were well connected to the theme of the content and the cognitive link could be established easily.

Day 4 could be described as fruitful and satisfactory. It gave me new confidence to push myself from my comfort zone. 💪

      1. It needs great courage to reflect upon yourself objectively.
True Self reflection can make you your own teacher.
        You are on that road.
I am sure that you can proceed further.
